The Carvery

Logs on the walls

Nowadays a lot of steakhouses suddenly sprung like mushrooms around Alabang--- Wooden Horse, Grams Diner, and now The Carvery. I guess all are competing over the same thing, that it a good quality of steak at its lowest price.

The Carvery is something new. It is located in Westgate (right in front of Alba's), and I can say that one thing I especially loved about their restaurant is the interior and coziness of the place, and their service crews. Their interior somewhat makes you feel as if you are in a steakhouse in the US. The color scheme of red, white and brown simply compliment each other, which makes you feel very comfortable in their restaurant.
Cool looking utensils
The Carvery has been opened for only 2 weeks now. Looking at their menu, they have a great variety of salads, side dishes and sandwiches. Their steaks, however, are only Prime Ribs which ranges from 6oz (Php 590), 8oz (Php 790) and 12 oz (Php 990), all of which are served with coleslaw and a choice of side dish.

Being a little hungry lady, I went for the 8oz (at medium rare) and got a side of creamed spinach. Their service is indeed fast! Our food came in less than 5mins waiting time. Taking my first bite, that pc of meat just melted inside my mouth. It was cooked perfectly, well seasoned, and there was that "WOW!" factor of tenderness.

My side dish of creamed spinach
The only thing I didn't like about the dish is their plating. The plate was small and that pc of meat covered almost the entire plate, which left no place for the side veggies and coleslaw to be placed properly. Other than that, the steak itself is perfect.

The prime rib they use is of the top quality U.S beef. Considering this case, they are selling their steaks at a very reasonable price. However, don;t expect much of the thickness of the steak because the ones we got were only around half an inch. Nonetheless, you will definitely enjoy this place for a nice Sunday family treat.

Visit the Carvery! :)

  1. Hi I just came from this Restaurant this evening, the interiors and catchy signage enticed my brood to give this new Restaurant a try.... to the restaurants credit the steaks are good and value for money however......

The waiter recommended their best seller Roast beef on Charcoal bread what intrigued me apart from the unique bread was the prospect of eating roast beed with Jalapeños as described in the Menu... and to add more filling i ordered their horseradish mash potatoes..

When the food came and i started to eat it something felt wrong first of all the Horesraddish mashed potatoes was just "mashed potatoes" no hint of Horseraddish at all...an what made it worse was when i asked the waiter why they did not put any he just said that the Owners had tasted the dish one time and ordered to remove it...so why still keep it in the menu in the first place????? when the menu is just a simple one pager that was laminated...one can easily print this in a decent colored printer and laminate it again...or are they scrimping....

next up was the sandwich... as i happily ate the roast beef sandwich u sensed that i could not taste Jalapeños at all.... when i summoned the waiter to ask if the chef/cook put jalapeños he went down to ask the kitchen ..... and after a few minutes he comes back and sheepishly tells me they ran out of Jalapeños and decided not to include it??????

Oh boy in this day and age does this restaurants Chef/Cook think he can just change the contents of the menu and think that the customer will not notice it??? what kind of training for their "cooks" (if they have any) does this restaurant have???....

At the end of the day all i got was a sorry from the waiter and no word either from the chef or manager....sheesh...

Safe to say am never coming back.....too bad the concept and the food is good...i know my self appointed boycott won't make an impact but there are many restaurants out there that take extra care of their brand and product..

I just hope that whoever made this blog would let the owners know about this....we went here after my daughters Ballet recital and hoped to have a special dinner.....

    1. Hi Andoy. I'm sorry to get back to you more than a month later. I visited the Carvery when it first opened. I'm not surprised that you didn't quite enjoy your meal. Being a chef-student (almost at the end of the line hehe), I guess they were recommending those things to you and your fam for the simple reason that they want to push their items out (yes, it's true that they recommend stuff not because it's really the people's choice, but because they have to push it out and sell it instead of throwing it).

I'm very glad that you wrote this comment on my wall. I've only visited the Carvery once and that was the first and last time. Nonetheless I will visit the establishment and let them know about your lousy experience :)
