Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport

Because I'm such a car enthusiast, I am blogging about one of my dream cars, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. If I only had the money, this is the car I would get. It's fast. It's beautiful. It's comfortable. It's sleek. It's elegant. It's luxurious.

NEW DELHI (AFP) - – The world's most expensive and fastest production car has gone on sale in India, with luxury manufacturer Bugatti making its debut in the land of rickshaws.
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, which has a top speed of 407 kilometres (250 miles) an hour, went on display in a car dealership in the capital New Delhi on Thursday priced at 160 million rupees (3.6 million dollars).
Just 150 of the cars will be sold worldwide, though there will be few opportunites for the car to show its performance on India's potholed and notoriously congested roads.
"India is the hub of luxury, the country of the erstwhile Maharajas, who were the true patrons of bespoke luxury," Bugatti executive Julius Kruta said in a statement, referring to India's former hereditary rulers.
"We have in the past received a heartening response from our valued customers and I think the launch of the Bugatti in India will truly delight our discerning audience."
A host of Western luxury car and motorbike manufacturers are targeting the Indian market where the fast-developing economy is minting new multi-millionaires every year.
Shortcomings in public infrastructure are a major constraint on growth, however, and the nation's road network often features poorly maintained single-lane routes outside highly congested urban areas.
One of the country's best-known fast-car enthusiasts, superstar cricket batsman Sachin Tendulkar, beats the traffic by taking his Ferrari out in the early hours of the morning in his home town of Mumbai.
Iconic motorbike maker Harley-Davidson is the most recent major brand to bet on India's elite and has invested in a glitzy showroom in New Delhi, which opened in July.
India has a record 69 billionaires, with 17 new members added to the exclusive club this year, according to business magazine Forbes.
But some 836 million Indians also live on less than 20 rupees (45 cents) a day, according to a government report, while Indian statistics on health, infant mortality, malnutrition and income are worse than those for sub-Saharan Africa.

RIP Paul The Octopus

Paul, The Octopus

BERLIN (AFP) – Paul the octopus, who shot to fame during this year's football World Cup in South Africa for correctly predicting the outcome of games, has died, his aquarium in Germany said Tuesday.
"Management and staff at the Oberhausen Sea Life Centre were devastated to discover that oracle octopus Paul, who achieved global renown during the recent World Cup, had passed away overnight," the aquarium said in a sombre statement.

Lady Gaga's Fame

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga just became the first artist in history to pass the one-billion-viewed mark on YouTube, leaving nearest challenger Justin Bieber in the dust... if you can call his tally of 965 million views "dusty."
And you can't, because, in fact, Sir Bieber is within weeks of catching up with and surpassing Lady G in the YouTube record book. For the quarter that began in July of this year and ended September, JB was clearly on the faster track. His videos were viewed an average 3.98 million times a day, vastly outpacing her 2.04 million daily views.
These competitive figures speak to the big pop question of 2010: Is it Bieber's world and Gaga just lives in it? (My World 2.0, if we must put a name on this planet?) Or vice versa?

Justin Bieber
There are other metrics by which we might settle this battle royale. Lady Gaga is still on tops on Twitter, too, with 6.9 million followers, at last glance, the most of any extant celebrity. No doubt Bieber is crying like a "Baby"—all the way to the bank, that is—at trailing behind with a mere 5.9 million Twitter congregants.
On Facebook, Bieber is "liked" by 14.1 million fans... hardly a match for the 21.4 million who "like" the artist formerly known as Stefani Germanotta. In other words, even if Lady Gaga is likely to be giving up her YouTube crown before the end of the year, she'll still be the queen of social-media stats at least well into 2011.
How about sales? Both artists have new releases on the way—a studio album for Gaga, an "acoustic" set for Bieber. Lady Gaga's Famealbum has sold 3.8 million, while the followup Fame Monsterpackage has sold an additional 1.3 million. Bieber's My World 2.0is at 1.9 million, while its predecessor, My World, is at 1.6 million. The point goes to Gaga... for now.
Lady Gaga used her uber-Twitter account to send thanks to her fans for watching her for free on their computers, over and over and over and over and over and over again.
"We reached 1 Billion views on youtube little monsters!" she wrote, so excited that she momentarily forgot her preference for lower-case letters and capitalized Billion. "If we stick together we can do anything." (Except get "don't ask, don't tell" overturned?) "I dub u kings and queens of youtube! Unite!"
Bieber had no such get-out-the-vote message for his own little monsters. His tweets this week have had more to do with odor-iffic triumph.
"couple of you have been asking me about a fragrance," Bieber wrote, sharing Gaga's disregard for needless capitalization. "yes Im working on a real fragrance that will be in department stores next year... and by real I mean a fragrance that comes in a tight bottle and smells..." (What a relief it was to know that the fragrance Bieber is "working on" is the kind that comes bottled.)

Gaga, where is thy retail smell? If you want to stay ahead of Bieber in the celebrity fragrance metrics, too, you'd better get the li'l monsters to work down at the olfactory factory.

The Magic is Here

Yesterday, my hubby surprised me... I thought we were going to Greenbelt or Glorietta.. Turns out, he was planning to surprise me by going to Enchanted Kingdom. I've been wanting to go since 2 years ago. We just never really had the time. We've been so busy and stressed that every weekend we hibernate.

Judd, Thurl and My Hubby lining up for Anchor's Away
I guess the good thing about October 23, 2010 in Enchanted Kingdom was there was a pyro competition between Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. It was to start at 8 and end at 12. Sadly though, the whole day the go-karting was cancelled. And, there was just WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE. Field trips, family outings, gimmicks, etc. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my hubby's company. He invited two of his best friends, Judd and Thurl. I enjoyed being with them as they also enjoy riding roller coasters. From 12nn-9pm, we were only able to ride 8 rides: Ekstreme, Anchor's Away, Space Shuttle, Dora's 4D, Flying Fiesta, Dodge Em, Log Jam and Rialto.

Tonkatsu Bento
Mini Donuts
At around 6, we ate at the food court since it started to rain. My hubby and I tried the Japanese fast food. We ordered Tonkatsu bento box. The serving was really small. For Php 109, it was so north worth it. Can't complain though since it started raining really hard. For dessert, we had DQ and mini donuts. I loved the mini donuts. Flavors I ordered were cinnamon and chocolate. Filling and worth it.

After dinner, we decided to walk around a bit and then ride the Rialto. It was so cute! Happy Feet :)

After dropping of Judd, we decided to chill and drink beer in the car. We stargazed and eventually fell asleep.

North Park

Freshly Squeezed Lemonade
North Park has been around for quite sometime now. I remember when I was younger how my mom would treat my siblings and I to North Park after office hours. This was around 1996 when it hasn't expanded yet. It was located in Jupiter Ave. in Makati. And yes, there were lots of people already. The first meal I ordered back then was plain congee with chips and lemonade. Up to today, I patronize the plain congee dish and their freshly squeezed lemonade.

A couple days back, my hubby and I decided to eat in North Park, Town Center for lunch. We ordered our favorite Chinese rice, Salted Fish Fried Rice, Beef and Tendon Hot Pot, and Steamed Dumplings. The rice was heavenly as usual. I didn't quite care for the peas as to me it removes the saltiness of the rice. The beef and tendon hot pot was great. Although the meat was quite tough, it still tasted delicious. The tendon was really soft which makes it easy for digestion. The dumplings tasted quite funny. There was some sort of an after taste that sort of stuck for a while. I didn't really like the dumpling so much. And of course, the lemonade, was the best. It was thirst quenching. The service in North Park, Town Center was all right. There was one waitress though that was quite rude. Good thing she wasn't assigned to our table.

Salted Fish Fried Rice
A few days later, my hubby and I decided to try North Park in South Supermarket. We still ordered the salted fish fried rice, beef and tendon hot pot and lemonade. We also ordered 3 Kinds of Mushroom with Broccoli and Chicken Feet. It was going to be my first time to eat chicken feet (Yes, I'm Chinese but I never really tried the exotic dishes). The rice tasted the same, and the proportioning was the same too. However, the beef and tendon hot pot's portioning was like half compared to that of Town Center. The beef though was more tender which made it easier for us to eat. Other than that, everything was the same. The chicken feet was quite hard to eat... So much bones and all. In my opinion, nothing so great about it. The 3 Kinds of mushroom with broccoli was a healthy dish. Too healthy that all I tasted were the greens. The sauce was too little and wasn't too tasty. If a little more sauce were added to the dish, it would have been all right to eat.

Pet Owners Mistake

I love pets, most especially dogs. I believe that dogs are practically like humans, only they can't talk. According to studies, dogs are said to be even more sensitive than us human beings. I believe they can understand us. I believe they are trying to communicate with us. They should be given more credit. They shouldn't be taken for granted.

  • Mistake 1: Buying a Pet Spontaneously

Why this is a mistake: That doggie in the window may be darling, but he might not be the right fit for your family or lifestyle.

Related: How to Choose a Pet

How to avoid it: Fully inform yourself before you bring home a pet. Every dog or cat has its own needs, some of which are specific to the breed. Terriers tend to dig; Abyssinians explore and climb. If there’s a breed that interests you, read up on it (try the website of the American Kennel Club, at akc.org, or the Cat Fanciers Association, at cfainc.org), talk to owners, and get to know someone else’s Border collie or Persian. That said, not every dog or cat is typical of its breed, so “ask about the pet’s history, health, and temperament,” says Stephanie Shain, a director at the Humane Society of the United States. When dealing with a breeder, you should be shown where the pet was raised and meet his parents.

  • Mistake 2: Skipping Obedience Training

Why this is a mistake: Bad habits can be difficult to train out of a pet. So unless you have the know-how to school an animal, you need the help of a pro.

Related: The Best Pet Brushes

How to avoid it:
Even before a puppy starts formal training, teach him simple commands, such as sit and stay. A puppy can begin formal training at eight weeks (and ideally before 12 weeks), after he has had his shots. “Between the ages of 8 and 16 weeks, puppies readily absorb information about the world around them,” says Andrea Arden, author of Dog-Friendly Training ($19, amazon.com). To help a dog stick with good behaviors, every few years take him for a refresher course. (Find one in your area at the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, apdt.com.)

  • Mistake 3: Being Inconsistent With the Rules

Why this is a mistake: If one child lets Fifi on the bed and another punishes her for it, the animal will be confused. Bad behavior is inevitable.

How to avoid it:
Make sure everyone in your household knows―and follows―the rules, says Arden. “You want your dog to sit before eating a treat? You don’t want your kitten to pounce on your hands? Then figure out a system that will help your pet succeed.” Pets thrive with a sense of order, so discuss with your family when yours should be fed, exercised, and even given a treat.

  • Mistake 4: Dispensing Too Many Free Treats

Why this is a mistake: Treats lose their training value if your pet gets them for no reason.

Related: 8 Things Your Pet Shouldn't Eat
How to avoid it: “Think of treats as currency given to a pet to reward good behavior,” says Marty Becker, a veterinarian and a coeditor of Petconnection.com. Assign each type of treat a value, and pay according to how well your pet behaves. Kibble is worth a dollar; a chicken strip, five; bologna, 10. “But it’s important to not pay off the good behavior all the time,” Becker says. “That way, your dog will always hope he might get that piece of bologna, and he’ll eventually perform without seeing a treat.”

  • Mistake 5: Neglecting to Socialize Your Pet

Why this is a mistake: Pets that aren’t exposed to a variety of animals and people at a very young age can develop fears and aggressive behavior.

How to avoid it: Introduce your pet to adults, kids, animals, and environments so he’ll take every novelty in stride. It’s optimal for a pet to start the process before you bring him home, since the critical socialization period is early in life. “For a dog, it’s between the ages of 3 and 12 weeks. For cats, it’s between 2 and 8 weeks,” says Nicholas Dodman, director of the Animal Behavior Clinic at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, in North Grafton, Massachusetts. The breeder or the shelter’s adoption counselor can tell you how much socialization an animal has had.

  • Mistake 6: Skimping on Exercise
Why this is a mistake: Pets have pent-up energy that needs to be unleashed through physical activity. Otherwise it will be channeled into barking, jumping, or even hostile behavior.

How to avoid it:
“Walk your dog at least twice a day for a minimum of 30 minutes each time,” says Cesar Millan, host of The Dog Whisperer, on the National Geographic Channel. “To your dog, that’s a primal activity―birds fly, fish swim, and dogs walk.” Pamela Reid, vice president of the ASPCA’s Animal-Behavior Center in Urbana, Illinois, recommends that dogs get at least 40 minutes of aerobic exercise daily. “Dogs need more exercise than people do,” says Reid. Try running or biking with your dog or playing fetch or Frisbee. With a cat, “you can’t take her jogging, but before and after work, give her 10 to 20 minutes of playtime,” says Reid.

  • Mistake 7: Neglecting to Keep Your Pet Mentally Active

Why this is a mistake: Bored pets are more likely to get into trouble.

Related: The Best New Pet Gear

How to avoid it:
Give your pets something to do. For a dog, that can mean having him hunt for food. Place a meal or treats in spots around the house for him to sniff out, or “feed him out of a food-dispensing puzzle toy instead of his bowl,” says Andrea Arden. Keep a cat engaged with simple amusements, like a toy mouse dangling from a string. “You can stimulate your cat visually by placing a bird feeder outside a window, or setting a lava lamp on a shelf,” says Arden Moore, author of The Cat Behavior Answer Book ($15, amazon.com).

  • Mistake 8: Leaving a Pet Alone for Too Long

Why this is a mistake: A lack of proper companionship can lead to separation anxiety and destructive behaviors.

How to avoid it: “Don’t leave a puppy alone for eight hours,” says Reid. Hire someone to watch him or drop him off at a doggie day-care center. Your puppy will need to learn how to be alone for a few hours each day, however, so “teach him to self-pacify almost immediately,” says Andrea Arden. Put him in a crate (or leash him to a stable object) a foot or two away from you, then gradually increase the distance over the course of a week. Then make sure that he spends escalating amounts of time alone in his crate or confined to a room. Break up the day for dogs of any age with a visit from a dog walker or a neighbor, and give your pet access to toys and visual stimuli. Unlike puppies, kittens can be left alone, but they should have access to toys and visual stimuli.

  • Mistake 9: Failing to Make Your Home Pet-Friendly

Why this is a mistake: A cat without a proper litter box will just use the carpet. A dog without a cozy bed will end up on the couch.

Related: Pet-Themed New Uses for Old Things

How to avoid it:
Location is key with a litter box. “A cat doesn’t want to travel a long way to go to the bathroom any more than you do,” says Mieshelle Nagelschneider, a feline behaviorist and a consultant at the Cat Behavior Clinic, near Portland, Oregon. Place litter boxes (one per cat, if you own a few, plus one box they can share, says Moore) in quiet areas throughout your home. Plug in a night-light beside each one so your cat can find it in the dark. Cats dislike strong odors (even air freshener), so use uncovered boxes and unscented litter and scoop out each box every day. Dogs are far less persnickety about where they relieve themselves, but do them the favor of regularly picking up the poop in the backyard. Cats and dogs also need spots where they can cuddle up and feel safe. “A dog needs a crate like a teenager needs a room,” says Dodman. Provide a crate or a cozy bed, and make it taboo for your family to pester the dog while he’s in it. Cats naturally want to climb to an optimal vantage point, so set up a place where yours can look out a window.

  • Mistake 10: Punishing Your Pet

Why this is a mistake: You might think Chewie knows you’re screaming at him because he ate the loaf of bread on the counter, but he won’t connect your behavior with his action.

How to avoid it: Never physically punish your pet; he’ll just learn to fear you. It’s OK to startle a pet out of a behavior, but only if you catch him in the act. Command him with a firm “No!” or “Down!” and he’ll connect the reaction with what he’s doing and learn that it’s not OK. Otherwise, the punishment should come from the environment. Teach a cat or a dog to stay off the counter, say, by arranging sheet pans in a pile that will clatter to the floor if he jumps up. The counter, not you, will become the thing to fear.
